Cisilion’s Christmas Ode to Cloud PBX

Cisilion’s Christmas Ode to Cloud PBX

T’was the week before Christmas and all through the Office,
The sound of delight from all of the bosses.

The clunky old Avyva phones unplugged from the sockets
As they moved to Cloud PBX – it’s great so don’t knock-it.

We migrated their numbers, and gave them headsets,
They are now on Skype for Business without any regrets.

From E3 to E5, we lit them all up,
Their productivity now, we have clearly sped up.

The Story of Our First Cloud Only Skype for Business Deployment

This week (December 21st), Cisilion successfully deployed our first full Cloud PBX with PSTN Conferencing and PSTN Calling all through Office 365.

This initial project, which followed the Skype Operations Framework, saw us undertake our first “live” Skype for Business Cloud PBX deployment. Our client, a small subsidiary of a much larger client has 80 people, with the majority working from a single location or remotely and from home, so these people now have the added benefit of being able to work from anywhere for the first time, something the wider group has been keen to promote but has been unable to until now due to aging and in-flexible technology. Following the Skype Operations Framework, we:

  • Assessed the network for voice and video capability
  • Determined the users DDI’s that needed porting
  • Submitted the porting request which took a few days,
  • Deployed headsets
  • Provided user adoption training and floor walkers

We then literally sat back and watched the staff delight as they embraced the new technology which set them free from their desks and plastic phones.

The only victim of this was the old phones, their facilities team now have the joy of disposing of these chunks of plastic… RIP

Initial feedback from our client has been positive and we are hoping to extend the deployment to the other companies within the group.

The Office 365 number porting process was “seamless” – from logging the initial porting request right up to completion of the porting with no interruption to telephony services during the porting period”.
