Introducing Gary Smallman – Cisilion’s Operations Director
We sat down with our new Operations Director, Gar
y Smallman, to discuss how he’ll use his extensive experience to work with our clients and help grow Cisilion.
Gary Smallman is an experienced leader in the delivery and support of Cloud, Data Centre and Network solutions. He is responsible for the engagement life cycle and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction during delivery and partnering closely with Sales colleagues to grow the overall business.
Throughout an impressive career, Gary has provided leadership and mentoring pertaining to customer implementations, customer service management, rolling out new services, engineering new customer builds, delivering managed services, effective communication and teamwork.
Gary is an ITIL, Prince2 and Six Sigma qualified IT professional with over 20 years of experience working in Senior Management and Consultant positions within Operations and Data Centre environments.
He has previously worked across Service Providers and System Integrators both on commercial and 3rd Sector, being responsible for the IT leadership and service delivery. Throughout his career, Gary has added identified ways to drive efficiencies to improve and grow services and organisation whilst maintaining a highly motivated delivery team.
How do you plan to leverage your industry experience to further enhance Cisilion’s Managed Services portfolio?
The key to managed services is the definition of the service and the roles and responsibilities of how that service will be delivered and supported with client satisfaction at its heart. It’s also about being flexible, as every solution is unique to that client and their business. You have to be very cognisant of this and how they will consume the service in their environment, culture and sector.
The world is moving more and more towards cloud based technologies for the consumption of applications and data. The thing that links all of this together is the network. I believe that my experience across the technologies layers and Cisilion’s capabilities in all of these areas make us a great team to leverage and use my knowledge to create sustainable growth.

Cisilion are a successful growing organisation where I think I can make a significant contribution to its continued and future successes for many years to come. Meeting the leadership team through my on-boarding process made it clear they are all people who I can bond and work well with and together, we can enhance and continue to build on the great achievements of the organisation to date.
What are you most excited about for the future?
I have worked across Data Centre, Network and Cloud technologies for many years and the key in all roles and technologies is the success of the client – across support and the delivery of projects. This aligns amazingly well with the Cisilion culture so I feel the organisation is a fantastic fit for myself and my ethics.
