Announcement: Cisilion are Disability Confident Committed

Written by Rachel Ward-Miller, Cisilion’s Head of HR

Cisilion are proud to say that we are Disability Confident Committed, gaining level one status of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) employer scheme to ensure that we make the most out of talent across the board.

We are committed to ensuring that those with disabilities are given equal opportunities to join #TeamCisilion, feeling safe in an environment where people of all walks of life are considered and included. Here at Cisilion, we want employees both present and future to contribute to our company’s success to their full capacity – this is a great step towards providing the right space to help us all thrive together.

Being Disability Confident means that we meet a certain set of criteria set by the Department of Work and Pensions in the UK.

What does this mean?

Achieving level one status of the scheme means that we agree to provide inclusive and accessible recruitment, better-communicate vacancies, offer equal opportunities to disabled people and provide reasonable adjustments, as well as support existing employees.

As such, we have taken steps to improve how we recruit retain and develop disabled people – both currently within the company and those looking to join Cisilion. From making job specifications more accessible to improving inductions once a new candidate has joined, we look to make our environment and recruitment process more accessible to those with disabilities to ensure that we aren’t missing skilled candidates at any stage.

Cisilion’s Head of HR, Rachel Ward-Miller, mentions thatBecoming Disability Confident is a great achievement for Cisilion, however, we recognise that we still have more to learn and further to go. Ensuring that we are accommodating to all diverse groups is not only ethical and fair but will ensure the business has a range of skills and voices, which is essential in enabling us to reach our business objectives.”.

Working towards the higher levels of being Disability Confident is the next step. But first, achieving level one status is the first step to providing the best experience for current employees and future candidates that are disabled.
