What’s New at Cisilion – September 2023

Written by Scott Johnston
Head of Client Success, Cisilion

I hope you’ve enjoyed the summer and I’d like to take this chance to highlight some of the key compelling events that I believe should be at the top of your list this month.

I’m also excited to share the news that we’ve launched additional services to our portfolio that could add incremental value to your business, including Lighthouse for Azure, Azure Reporting, Webex & Teams integrations, and improvements in Office 365 and Teams reporting.

However, there are two specific areas that I’d like to highlight as they have upcoming compelling dates for action for both Cisco and Microsoft solutions.

What’s New in Cisco

Reminder: Cisco changes PSS to PLSS Support

Cisco is changing its support model from PSS to PLSS, it’s by-in-large the same service, albeit with some additional features.

Looking at a typical estate for our clients, I’d estimate that there could be a price increase of around 40%

Fortunately, as a PLSS-certified partner, Cisilion can explain the benefits, help you transition, or – as some of our clients are choosing to do – help keep you on the same commercial model as you are on today, for an extended period.

Please let me know if you’d like to speak to our Maintenance team to discuss your options.

What’s New in Microsoft

Final Call: Microsoft Teams Rooms Licencing – Action by 30th September

From Saturday 30th September, Microsoft will be making a change to its Teams Rooms licensing that will impact any Teams Rooms devices that are not assigned Pro or Basic licences. Premium and Standard licenses will reach end-of-life, meaning any rooms assigned these licenses will no longer function.

I found this blog from our Head of Digital Workplace to be very useful in understanding the requirements and provides information on what is required and your next steps.

In the Press: Cisco State of Networking Report

Discover our CTO Rob Quickenden’s thoughts on Ciscos Global Networking Trends Report and why you should consider adopting a cloud-centric operating model. The report covers some of the emerging networking trends in the multi-cloud world, and how they affect the IT operations and security of organisations.

Based on the report, Cisco say that organisations can mitigate against many of the challenges discussed by adopting a cloud-centric operating model that brings cloud operating model principles to the network and across their entire cloud/network IT stack. This can enable more integrated workflows and better collaboration between network, security, and cloud operations.
