Following the highly anticipated launch in May by Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer at Microsoft in New York – here are our key takeaways including how organisations like schools, creatives, and businesses can use Hub for remote collaboration:
• Surface Hub 2S 50″
The Surface Hub 2S runs an updated version of the current Hub software and whiteboard services, but comes with an upgraded 4k screen and cameras, and more sensitive screen and pens. It’s also much thinner and fully Teams integrated.
• 85” Surface Hub 2S
The biggest surprise from the launch was that Microsoft will be launching an 85” Surface Hub 2S early next year! This completely changes the Microsoft Hub narrative extending the huddle room and collaborative space narrative back to the full meeting room scenario.
• Battery Powered Hub 2S
Microsoft has been working with APC on a battery stand with Steelcase, enabling complete mobile collaboration and several hours battery life. This enables a truly mobile Hub 2S that you don’t want to be stuck on a wall – Goodbye old whiteboard!
• Non-Compute Hub 2S (A Giant Touch Screen)
A non-compute version will also arrive by the end of the year – enabling more scenarios where the pen experience can be used. I got to see one recently at ISE and have used the V2S – the pen experience is truly exceptional – I thought V1 was good but V2 is even better!
