Cisilion Global Diaries – Berlin

After a short hiatus, our global diaries are back! Better than ever, we have three members of Cisilion at the hipsterville of Europe: Berlin. Marketing girls Merit Hansmitt and Valma Tikkakoski as well as our Principal Solutions Consultant Peter Marceta share their thoughts and experiences from the German capital.

Where are you?

Members of #TeamCisilion are at the Cisco Live Berlin 2016 conference.

Why are you there?

Marketing girls Merit and Valma won a social media competition organised by Cisco and were flown to Berlin to do all things social around the conference. Principal Solutions Consultant Peter Marceta is here for the technical sessions and updates.

Duration of trip?

We are here for 4 days.

What collaboration tools are you using? Or any other tools?

Juggling between the conference sessions and meetings back in London, we have been having Jabber calls with the office, WebEx meetings with customers and partners and posting Yammer updates for internal comms.

How’s the interaction with the UK offices while in Berlin?

We have had daily calls and somehow have been receiving more e-mails than usual (standard, right?) but it has been great. Thankfully the tools available make communication between countries a seamless experience.

How have the solutions Cisilion provide helped you with working abroad?

Having our laptops and mobiles here – it’s all we need. We are connected 24/7 with our team, customers and partners.

Describe Berlin in a sentence – how is it, what do you like/dislike about it

Berlin is an interesting city, we all have different views of it.

Merit: It’s my first time in Berlin and my initial impression was that it reminded me of a run-down place. But after exploring it a bit more, the city has grown on me – Berlin has its own charm and a very cool vibe to it.

Valma: This is my third time in Berlin. Its’ not at its best in February, I was here in the summer and it was wonderful. Such a vibrant city with lots to do – it’s cheap, fun and has heaps of history to explore.

Peter: Berlin is one of my favourite European cities. Full of energy, cool people and a laid-back attitude, you will never get bored. However the weather this time round hasn’t been great.

If you had 2 free days in Berlin what would you do there?

We all agree (for once). We would come here in the summer, rent bicycles and explore the city. We would visit a few museums and spend time in cool outdoor bars and pools, enjoying good food and cocktails.

If you could go to Berlin with anyone, who would you go with? Why?

We are all young so it’s OK to say this: Berlin is a great party destination. Come with friends.

How long have you been with Cisilion? Why do you love your job? 🙂

We are a mixed bunch, but the three of us have been at Cisilion between 7 and 14 months. Cisilion is all about the team, it feels like a big family and we always have fun while doing our jobs. Our roles offer a great balance between being challenging, highly energetic and working with leading vendors, great customers and the best co-workers.
