Secure, Intelligent, More Productive – Yep, That’s Office 365

At day 1 of Ignite in Atlanta yesterday, Microsoft announced a plethora of enhancements and new products and services which focus further on security, productivity and intelligence – all powered by Microsoft’s Cloud and what they call the “Microsoft Graph”.

In light of the ever increasing threat landscape such as mobility and IoT, Microsoft has finally announced to the “public” the new security enhancements coming online across its leading products, including Windows 10, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility & Security Suites.

Security gets deeper into Office365 and Windows 10

Windows Defender Application Guard – powered by virtualisation-based security technology uses isolated containers built directly into the hardware to prevent malicious code from moving across employee devices and the corporate network. Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows Insiders customers will be the first to get their hands on this in the next couple of months.

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (WDATP) & Office365 ATP – whilst a bit of a mouthful, are designed to help IT to quickly investigate and respond to security threats across all of their Windows 10 and Office 365 devices and users.

Microsoft also announced they will be extending Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint Online and of course OneDrive for Business.

Enterprise Mobility + Security E5 – is a new “bundle” that provides leading edge security powered by Azure and Office 365 Graph to help businesses with their transition to mobile and cloud. Available from October 1st 2016, this suite builds on what was previously available in EMS (Enterprise Mobility Suite) but also includes the new Microsoft Azure Information Protection service to help organisations classify, label and protect sensitive data.

Secure Productive Enterprise (which replaced ECS – Enterprise Cloud Suite) offers the latest and most advanced security and productivity capabilities across Office 365, Windows 10 Enterprise and Enterprise Mobility + Security.

Intelligent Productivity

Hot on the buzz and realisation of AI, Microsoft announced new additions to their artificial intelligence capabilities.

Office 365 Intelligence – new “cloud-powered” intelligent capabilities are coming to Office 365 with enhancements in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Sway and Maps which include auto content creation and suggestions for layout, based on agenda and theme.

MyAnalytics – (formerly Delve Analytics), which provides new insights into your teams, contacts and customer interactions, personal analytics that measure and suggest improvements to your productivity. If you haven’t tried this out, its awesome!

And finally, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen announced that Adobe is bringing its Marketing Cloud to Microsoft Azure and making it the preferred digital marketing solution for Dynamics 365 Enterprise.

“Core to our mission to empower every person and organisation on the planet is democratising AI for every person and organisation to help solve society’s most pressing challenges,” said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. “To do this, we’re infusing intelligence into everything we deliver — from the agent to applications, services and infrastructure.
